Tenospin recycling process

Ever wondered what happens with your used bale wrap after use? Read here how we make new premium products from it on our own recycling sites.

Our recycling process

How we close the loop

From used bale wrap to new high-performance film

We have managed to develop products based on recycled material, that show the same properties as products made only from virgin material, and also enable a loop within baled silage, as the recycled material used comes from agricultural films that were returned after usage.

With the help of national collecting schemes, we collect used bale wrap, recycle it in our own recycling plants into top-quality regranulate, and manufacture new films with a minimum of 30 % PCR (post-consumer recyclate), which decreases the carbon footprint by up to 50%*.

Our films that contain recycled material are branded "loop inside" and are certified by RecyClass. All our bale wrapping products have a "loop inside" alternative.

What makes the loop inside products so special is, that the recycled material originates from previously used bale wrap, which created a true loop of recycled bale wrap.

By closing the loop we turn agricultural waste into new high-performance film – and by that reduces waste, save resources and lower the carbon footprint.

National Collecting Schemes (NCS)

All our films are single material based on Polyethylene (PE) and therefor 100 % recyclable and should be collected and be returned for recycling after use.

Besides you as a user, National Collecting Schemes (NCS) play an important role in bringing back the film after use, so we can recycle it into new products.

We want to support all initiatives for National Collecting Schemes or other collecting initiatives in markets were Tenospin products are sold. We have therefore been one of the founding members in a non-profit branch association to support NCS initiatives in Europe: APE Europe

Below you‘ll find a list of established systems. If there is no NCS listed for your country, please reach out to your local dealer, as for several additional countries initiatives for establishing collecting and recycling systems have already been taken.

FAQ

What is the “loop inside” concept?

Our loop inside products contain a minimum of 30% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) made from previously used agricultural films. This creates a true circular system, where old bale wrap becomes new film, reducing the carbon footprint, saving resources and reducing waste.

By now more than 30 million bales have been sucessfully warpped with loop inside products.

How is used bale wrap recycled?

Used film is collected through National Collecting Schemes (NCS), then cleaned, shredded, and regranulated in our own recycling facilities. The resulting top-quality regranulate is used to produce new films that perform just as well as those made from virgin material.

The fact that we run our own recycling facilities, makes it possible for us, to control the whole process and by that guaranteeing, that only high-quality regranulates are being used for our loop inside products, as premium bale wrap needs premium raw material.

Is Tenospin bale wrap fully recyclable?

Yes. All our films, this includes bale wrap and mantle film, are single material design based on Polyethylene (PE) with 100% recyclability and should after usage be recycled in fraction 4 and sorted according to local regulations/recommendations set up by the collecting/recycling systems.

The same applies for boxes, sleeve plastic packaging and cores depending on type of material. Please check the pictogram on the packaging for recycling fraction.

What are National Collecting Schemes (NCS)?

National Collecting Schemes are local or national programs that organize the collection and recycling of used agricultural films, such as bale wrap. They ensure that plastic waste is properly returned for recycling. We actively support and participate in NCS initiatives across Europe through APE Europe, a professional association bringing together companies and organizations.
